Rayala vari ruchulu used to be like a Royal Dine in yesteryears. They are very rich in taste, very very generous in adding spices (even the chilli’s 🙂 ), hence the food usually is spicy.
Rayalaseema Ruchulu serves some authentic dishes of this region and stands true to its taste. Ambience is uber cool and calm. They have also started buffet for the benefit of foodies, so that many authentic dishes could be tried at a decent rate of 499++. Lets see how good the dishes were.
They had miryala rasam and Paya as part of soups. Miryala rasam, as the name says, it is actually a rasam with lots of black pepper powder which helps as an appetizer and also relieves in seasons like rainy and winter from cold. Its not a soup, but yeah it was good. Paya on the other hand wasn’t up to the mark.
Jumping to Starters, they had Pesaru Garelu, Uragaya Gobi Kebab and Kaya Kurala Pakodi in Veg. Both Pesaru Garelu and Kaya kurala pakodi tasted good and is something used as starters in housholds, an authentic plus (y). Uragaya Gobi Kebab could have been better in taste.
Non Veg starters were Pachi mirchi kodi kebab,Tawa chepa fry and Andhra Kodi vepudu. All the three Starters were really tasty, however were not spicy enough for me. On checking with Manager, he suggested me RR Special Chicken and we were served with that dish. It was one of the best dish I had for the lunch. Scrumptiously made, good spice levels and perfect in taste.
Main Course had array of dishes in both veg and non veg. It had almost all the authentic dishes that you prepare at home in veg like Mamidikaya Pappu,Sambar,Vankaya Batani,Bendakaya Masala,Ragi Sangati(famous dish of rayalaseema),sajja sangati. All were prepared homely and very good in taste. Again, you wouldnt see Paneer and Mushroom among these and I think you already know the reason why.
Non Veg dishes comprised of Kodi Kura,Natukodi pulusu, guddu iguru. As was the case with veg, these were homely and tasty. Kodi kura could have been better. Again, I did not find anything spicy here as well and requested one spicy dish. Then came the show stealer Palnadu Mamsam, boy it was mindblowing. The best mutton curry I had, it was so yummy and spicy. Kothimira Mamsam Pulao was also tasty among rice dishes.
Ended with desserts Gulab Jamun,Sorakaya Halwa and caramel custard. Nothing extraordinary, however they were at their usual good taste. They could add an authentic dish puran poli into this for buffet.
As Rayalaseema Ruchulu claims to be one of the best spicy restaurant, their buffet needs to have atleast 1 item each in starter and curries which are actually spicy. Not that the served dishes weren’t spicy, its only that a person who loves spicy food like me may be disappointed knowing all dishes though are good, arent spicy enough for his/her tongue.
- Serves delicious authentic rayalaseema dishes.
- Decently priced buffet.
- Spicy dishes needs to be put in buffet, to attract spicy lovers (if not all dishes, one of them atleast)
- Desserts could be something that could be worked on.
Definitely worth a try for the folks who love to try authentic cuisine and spicy food. For people who doesnt like to have spicy food, as my post goes- not all dishes are spicy and can be enjoyed by non spicy lovers too.
My picks are Palnadu Mamsam and RR Special chicken. These are real spicy and tasty.
