Kareem’s is no new name to the folks who love kebabs and lucknowi dishes. If you still find it new, then you need to hit this place to understand why it is very popular. Started it’s culinary journey in 1995 in Mumbai, it has pampered many taste buds so much that it has 4 branches there and 29 branches all over. They mainly serve Lucknowi,Mughlai dishes and we have loved their dishes. Ambience is nothing fancy but it is decent and has comfortable seating and can seat upto 60 pax. Please note that this place is not to be confused with Karim’s Delhi.
Price Factor: One of the most economical places that I have come across recently. Almost all the dishes are priced within 200 with few exceptions between 200-300. Desserts are within 60 and are a steal deal for their amazing taste. 600-800 AI for 2 should be a satisfying meal.
This food session was by invitation of the restaurant and was on the house. Below review is true to taste and honest in the interest of fellow foodies and restaurant.
Food: This place, as I have mentioned, serves Luknowi and Mughlai , so by default we can not expect any dish to be spicy, but can be customized as per customer need.
Kareem’s Spl Tandoori Chicken – Chicken marinated in Yogurt, red chilli paste and in house spices and then grilled has a refreshing flavor and delicious.
Sholay Kebab – Soft spiced and grilled chicken chunks topped with fluffy omlette on top of the dish was a killer. Truly tasty (y) .
Mushroom Tikki – Fresh mushroom marinated with spiced yogurt and grilled has distinct flavors which was very well observed by mushroom and was succulent.
Murgh Kali Mirchi and Murgh Tikka other grilled sides were flavorful and rich in taste.
Gobi Tikka – Gobi infused with spiced yogurt really carried the flavor very well. Lovely!
Mushroom Masala : Another best mushroom offering they have in store. Though limited options for veggies, I have loved the items that we had here in Veg. Masala was spiced very well and went along fine with Taftan and Naan.
Chicken Lahori : A recipe imported from Lahore , which has a paste/gravy of dried red chillies, coriander,peppercorns, cloves and cumin seeds with a dash of cinnamon for that spicy flavor. Could have used less salt. Not a bad one.
Mutton Rogan Josh : One of the finest dishes in Indian cuisine, carried ulta soft meat chunks simmered in spiced gravy was luscious. Best among mains (y).
Taftan : Having it for the first time, you feel like you are eating some biscuit. Every place has theoir own style of making breads and this one bread that stands out in Luknowi. A mildly sweet and little crispy bread, called Taftan is something if you want to try something new and different.
Shahi Tukra: One of those desserts which was a symbol of royalty then, is rich in flavors and taste. Deep/shallow fried bread topped with rabri was one of the best tukra I had till date. Many might have a confusion/assumption that shahi tukra and double ka meeta is the same, but what differs in my opinion is rabri on top of former and delicious taste from both desserts in shahi tukra.
Phirni : Rich and creamier rice pudding with the deliciousness of badam is another royal treat to your taste buds. Loved it.
Verdict: With such super economical pricing and awesome dishes, this place is surely a not to miss one!
